BAYBAY CITY, Leyte — The construction of a new diversion road aimed at decongesting traffic in this newly created city will be started after groundbreaking ceremonies at Barangay Hipusngo here.
Officials led by Leyte Representative Jose Carlos L. Cari and Mayor Carmen L. Cari were at the said groundbreaking ceremony of the new diversion road which is expected to help solve traffic congestion in the downtown and commercial district of Baybay City.
The diversion road is 5.4 kilometers long, and passes through five Babybay City barangays.
Cari said the construction of the new diversion road is a major development project of the city administration connecting the towns in Leyte to Maasin City and Ormoc City without passing through Baybay City’s downtown area.
She also said that once the road and bridge projects are completed, the new diversion road will boost the economic development of the new city and will provide easy access and flow of traffic benefiting residents and local businessmen as well as visitors to the city.
