Cardona requires use of face shield with face mask in public places

Starting Aug. 19, when Rizal Province and other areas in the country will revert back to general community quarantine (GCQ), Cardona residents and visiting non-residents are required to wear a face shield in addition to a face mask in most public places, including inside private vehicles.

Mayor Teodulo Campo, in his Executive Order No. 22 issued on Aug. 17, mandates the wearing of a face shield in addition to a facemask inside local and national government offices, markets, stores, public transport terminals, parks, supermarkets, convenience stores, churches, restaurants, workplaces, and on public and private transportation including tricycles and motorcycles.

The mayor’s executive order also requires private and government offices to install plastic barriers to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

In his Executive Order No. 21, issued while the town was under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), Mayor Campo ordered groceries, stores, mini marts, convenience stores, cooking gas retailers, pharmacies, hardware stores, restaurants, and eateries to put up a handwashing area or make hand sanitizers available.

Establishments were also required to put up entrance and exit signs as well as signage showing the government’s minimum health standards.
Workers in those establishments were also mandated to wear complete personal protective equipment.

As of Aug. 17, the town has recorded 32 active cases out of the total 81 confirmed cases. There have been 46 recoveries and three deaths.
