BTS readies new opus

K-pop boy band BTS will make their anticipated comeback with a new album in May.

BTS (Twitter) Big Hit Entertainment announced that the seven-member idol group will be releasing their third studio album “Love Yourself: Tear” on May 18, their comeback in eight months. The group released “Love Yourself: Her” last September, which has so far sold 1.6 million copies to become the best-selling album in 16 years in Korea. Earlier this month, BTS released their third Japanese album “Face Yourself,” which posted sales of 282,000 copies in its first week, according to the Oricon music chart, and erased the record set by girl group KARA in 2011. Meanwhile, fans will hold the “Run Army” Charity Fun Run Episode 1 on June 17 at the Quirino Grandstand in celebration of BTS’ fifth anniversary. There will be performances, games and prizes for the participants. “Be a part of ‘Run Army: Episode 1,’ the first ever Army fun run in the Philippines, and be an advocate of loving oneself and others through sharing,” according to non-profit group Be The Star BTS, which is organizing the event in partnership with Global BTS, King Namjoon PH, TiffanyM TWT, and BTS The Maknae Line. Proceeds from the fun run will be donated to UNICEF in support of BTS’ “Love Myself” project and to other charitable institutions in the Philippines.
