Zambales Trains 77 Resort Lifeguards

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — The Zambales Resort Owners As¬sociation, in partnership with the Philippine Life Saving So¬ciety, recently trained 77 local lifeguards in Botolan and San Antonio towns here on interna¬tional-level surf life-saving and pool lifeguarding. The training was aimed at making Zambales the safest destination for aquatic recreation by upgrading the skills of its lifesavers that is at par with their global counter¬parts. (Jonas Reyes)

‘Brigada Eskwela’

DAGUPAN CITY — Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez joined the Department of Education (DepEd) Dagupan in opening the “Brigada Eskwela 2012” the other day. Fernandez vis¬ited Lucao Elementary School, East Central Integrated School and Mangin-Tebeng Elementary School, and plans to visit more schools together with the 20th National Youth Congress del¬egates. Several other groups and government agencies, including a Philippine Red Cross Pangasi¬nan Chapter, Philippine National Police Dagupan, Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Service Point Officers and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (PPP) beneficia¬ries also volunteered to help pre¬pare public schools for the June 4 opening of classes. Police Help

BINANGONAN, Rizal — Police¬men here joined the Department of Education’s (DepEd’s) clean-up drive in schools the other day as part of the uniformed organization’s social responsibil¬ity. Chief Inspector Bartolome Marigondon, chief of police here led police personnel in the an¬nual “Brigada Eskwela,” a yearly clean up campaign of the DepEd in public school buildings. The other day, policemen assisted the students, parents and teach¬ers in cleaning the premises of the Rizal National Science High School at Batingan in this town. (Nel B. Andrade)

La Union Dengue Cases Increase

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — At least 521 cases of dengue were recorded in Pangasinan in the first three months of 2012, Provincial Health Officer Anna de Guzman reported yesterday. Dr. De Guzman said there was almost a 10 percent rise in the number of dengue cases in the first quarter of this year as com¬pared with the same period last year when only 477 cases of the mosquito-borne disease were reported. The areas most af¬fected by these dengue incidents are Lingayen, San Carlos City, Sta. Barbara, Binmaley, Asingan, Bayambang, Bugallon, Alaminos City and Urdaneta City. (Freddie G. Lazaro)

Clark Devel¬opment Corporation (CDC) Chair and Officer in Charge Eduardo Oban, Jr. said that some 2,500 job opportunities will be avail¬able during the 2012 CDC and Clark Investors and Locators Association job fair in Clark.
