In similar fashion, St. Francis of Assisi College and Colegio de San Lorenzo hammered out hard-earned wins in the semifinals to arrange a best-of-3 titular showdown in the 5th Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association at the San Andres gym in Malate, Manila.
St. Francis has won the first four staging of the UCLAA, but now an emerging force in San Lorenzo has surfaced to post a serious threat, with Game One set at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
In the junior division finals, meanwhile, National College of Business and Arts and AMA Computer College, having split the first two games of the series, clash for the championship in a winner-take-all at 9 a.m.
AMACU routed NCBA in Game Two, 84-51, to forge the decider in high school play.
In varsity semis, San Lorenzo, rallying from a narrow third quarter deficit, completed a sweep of Diliman Computer Technology Institute, 51-49, while St. Francis took the Game Three rubber match with AMACU, 65-63, weathering a late surge by AMACU which trailed, 32-22, at the half.
