Do you still remember RJ dela Fuente? Before going under radar, he was a finalist on “The Voice” way back 2011.

The singer has big plans this time, what with Genesis and Viva co-managing his career.
In an interview, RJ said he likes to believe his versatility is one of his strongest points. Name a music genre and he does it.
“(But) my sound is super chill lang, mellow,” he humbly said. “It’s far from the usual birit genre, it’s like people can sing along with me.”
The important thing, he said, is not to show off but to sing from the heart.
“I really enjoy every time I sing. I love performing talaga.”
RJ revealed he is working on an EP for release soon.
Asked to describe in one word how he was in 2017, it’s “blessed.”
He aims to do more in the next 12 months.
“I really want to pursue music. I’m excited to see what projects will be given to me. I want to sing at the same time, travel the world with the use of my voice.”
Few know it, but RJ is Gary Valenciano’s nephew. Does that pressure him in any way, we asked.
“It’s really inspiring to be related to them. They are very supportive of me like Tito Gary V. always gives me tips,” he said. “They are very encouraging and being related to them is not a bad thing but more of an honor.”
He said Gary advises him to stay true to himself.
“They just want me to enjoy every opportunity that comes my way,” RJ said. “They tell me ‘Relax, chill lang dapat palagi.”’
Though he grew up in the US, and he even has an American accent to show for it, RJ loves being in the Philippines.
“I love the Filipino culture. I love performing here. I love everything about the country. This is where my heart belongs.”
