MANILA, Philippines --- He made his mark as singer-songwriter and now Ogie Alcasid is also proving his acting mettle. In the Regal Entertainment-GMA Films latest collaboration, “Boy Pick-Up,” Ogie showcased his talent in comedy, but not the usual comedy that moviegoers are used to.

“Kaya ako natutuwa na marami ang nagsasabi na nagustuhan nila ang ‘Boy Pick Up’ at yong klase ng comedy na ginawa namin dito kasi ibang klase talaga,” Ogie said during the launch of “My Daddy Dearest,” where he plays a dual role.

His new soap opera is more comedy than drama, unlike the last one he did, “Daldalita.” But like in “Daldalita” which also featured Jillian Ward, Ogie has a child star as a co-star (Milkcah Wynne Nacion as Daisy) in “My Daddy Dearest.” “Gusto ko talaga na may kasama akong bata sa mga show ko. Makakare-late ang mga bata dito.”

At the moment, Ogie is neck-deep in work. He still has three to four days shooting for “I Doo Bidoo Bidoo,” he has “Bubble Gang,” and now “My Daddy Dearest.” He hardly has time to sleep, and in fact, “nag-aalala na si Misis (Regine Velasquez). Sabi niya minsan, ‘Ogie ang pangalan mo, di naman Superman, di ba?’ When I answered yes, sabi niya ‘eh bakit dalawang oras lang madalas ang tulog mo?’ Noon di kasi ako makahindi sa mga offer. But I started turning down projects na, like a filmfest entry sana, Unitel’s ‘Lola Basyang.’’

Anyway, in “My Daddy Dearest,” Ogie and Jolina Magdangal are co-starring for the first time. Aside from its comic element, it has a little fantasy, Ogie said. Through the wish of Daisy, his daughter, he would transform into a woman! So it will be another challenging role for Ogie, who has been called “Prince of Dramedy” by the director, Don Michael Perez.

Also in the cast of “My Daddy Dearest” are Pinky Amador, Sherylin Reyes, Pauleen Luna, JC Tiuseco, Ehra Madrigal, Mike “Pekto” Nacua, and Kyle Ocampo. The teleserye will air weekdays starting June 11 before “24 Oras” on GMA 7.

‘Tween Hearts’ Bids Farewell Today

After being on air for more than four months and showing a total of 86 episodes, GMA’s Reel Love presents “Tween Hearts” bids farewell today to its loyal followers via an emotional yet heart-warming finale.

“Tween Hearts” was originally intended to air just for eight weeks but it was extended many times because of its victory in the ratings game. Since it started airing, it has remained the No. 1 most preferred youth-oriented drama for young viewers, defeating four counterparts from its rival station.

According to industry ratings supplier Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, “Tween Hearts” registered 31.3 share points versus ABS-CBN’s “Luv U’s” 27.3 share points from the period Feb. 19 to May 27, 2012.

Aside from its high ratings performance, “Tween Hearts” also catapulted the Tweens – Barbie Forteza, Joshua Dionisio, Bea Binene and Jake Vargas, along with Joyce Ching, Kristoffer Martin, Derek Monasterio, Kylie Padilla, Louise de los Reyes, Lexi Fernandez, Hiro Magalona, Yassi Pressman, Ken Chan, and Therese Conde among others.
