MANILA, Philippines --- Jolina Magdangal-Escueta co-stars for the first time with Ogie Alcasid in the telesserye “My Daddy Dearest” which starts airing today, June 11, on GMA 7 before “24 Oras.” The role of Rose, however, was intended for someone else, but Jolina said she didn’t mind. “Ang mahalaga, ako ang natuloy.”

In the series, Rose is a simple but loving woman who has the unique gift of tending plants. Bong (Ogie’s character) fell in love with her and she bore him a daughter (Daisy, played by Milkcah Wynne Nacion). Unfortunately, Rose will die in a tragic accident while Daisy is celebrating her first birthday.

As a result, Bong neglected Daisy, leaving her to fend for herself, and went back to his old playboy days. Bong was unaware of the daily torments that Daisy goes through in the hands of her Lola Mercedes, Tita Daphne and cousin Lily who all want nothing more than possess all of Bong’s inheritance from his rich father.

Daisy finds refuge in her mother’s garden which unknown to her is inhabited by a magical pixie named Winnie (Pauleen Luna) who granted Daisy’s one wish: For her dad to become a mom instead!

Ogie says he isn’t afraid of being typecast in such a role.

Also starring in the series directed by Don Michael Perez are Pinky Amador, Sherylin Reyes, JC Tiuseco, Ehra Magrigal, Pekto, and Kyle Ocampo.

Alden Gets Another  Challenging Role

Alden Richards is proving himself to be a sought-after young actor. From “Panday 2,” he was cast in “The Road” for which he made his very first trip abroad.

And after “The Road,” Alden became part of the just ended “My Beloved.” And now, the young actor stars, along with his perennial love team-mate Louise de los Reyes in “One True Love” which also starts airing today on GMA 7.

In the story about undying love, Alden plays Tisoy who gets separated from his real parents and grows up poor. He grows under the care of Lola Tilde (Caridad Sanchez), a vendor at the pier who finds Tisoy and who will love him like her true grandson.

Like Louise, Alden couldn’t believe his good fortune of having one project after another. “Parang ang hirap paniwalaan na meron kami agad project ni Louise right after ‘My Beloved,’ lalo na kami na ang lead stars.’’

Also in the cast of “One True Love” are Agot Isidro, Jean Garcia, Raymond Bagatsing, Bembol Roco, Tia Pusit, Carlene Aguilar, Benjie Paras, Winwyn Marquez, and Lucho Ayala.

Directed by Andoy Ranay with Jun Lala as creative director, “One True Love” airs right after “Makapiling Kang Muli” on GMA Telebabad.
