Pope appoints 4 priests from Archdiocese of Lingayen Dagupan as 'missionaries of mercy'

By Leslie Ann Aquino Four priests from the Archdiocese of Lingayen Dagupan have been appointed by Pope Francis as "missionaries of mercy." Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan / MANILA BULLETIN Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan / MANILA BULLETIN The archdiocese identified them as Father Allan Morris Abuan, Father Danille Chad Pecson, Father Matt Jason Molina and Father Roy Joel Rosal. As missionaries of mercy, the archdiocese said these priests are tasked to preach the message of mercy. "These missionaries, personally appointed by the Holy Father, are tasked to preach the message of mercy all over the Catholic Church," the archdiocese said in a Facebook post. "With faculties from the Supreme Pontiff to forgive sins the absolution of which are normally reserved to the Holy Father," it further read. Lingayen Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas welcomed the appointment of his priests. He said it showed the pontiff's desire to share God's mercy to as many people. "It shows the passionate desire of Pope Francis for more people to experience the mercy of God and to share that same message of mercy to many more," Villegas said in an interview. "This is new evangelization," he added. The priests were appointed on June 3.
