Palace names Commissioner De Vera as CHED OIC

(RTVM / MANILA BULLETIN) In a memorandum, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said De Vera would serve as CHED OIC “to ensure the continuous and effective delivery of public service” upon the orders of President Duterte. His designation takes effect immediately. The memorandum signed by Medialdea was signed on January 24. De Vera takes the place of Patricia Licuanan who recently resigned amid reported allegations of frequent travels and mismanagement in the education commission. Licuanan claimed that she was asked by Malacañang to step down from her post six months before her term expires in July. The President later admitted that he "dismissed" Licuanan and that more government officials will be let go. De Vera, University of the Philippine vice president for public affairs, was appointed CHED commissioner in September 2016.
