The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has released several alternative routes for motorists as the repair of the Sevilla Bridge in Mandaluyong City looms.
Work on the bridge which connects the cities of Mandaluyong and Manila will be undertaken by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) this month.
Bong Nebrija, MMDA operations supervisor, said the bridge’s repair would affect Shaw Boulevard, both west and eastbound.
In its traffic management plan, once repairs have started, the MMDA advised motorists to take: westbound vehicles traveling Shaw Boulevard may turn right to F. Blumentritt St., left to F. Manalo St., right to Old Sta. Mesa, left to Araneta Avenue and right to Aurora Boulevard going to destination.

Bong Nebrija, MMDA operations supervisor, said they started conducting an information drive and clearing of obstructions along Lubiran Street, which serves as the main artery for the alternative routes.
During the clearing drive, Nebrija said they have discovered that barangay officials allow parking on major thoroughfares for a fee.
“We have asked barangay officials now to find another place for parking, at least not on alternative routes,” Nebrija said.
