By Martin Sadongdong The Philippine National Police (PNP) is gearing up to serve the warrants of arrest issued by a Quezon City court against former senator Antonio Trillanes IV and 10 others for conspiracy to commit sedition over their alleged involvement in a series of online videos linking President Duterte, his family, and allies to the illegal drug trade. Bernard Banac (SCREENSHOT / PNP / MANILA BULLETIN) "The Philippine National Police will serve the warrant of arrest against former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and other respondents charged of conspiracy to commit sedition," PNP Spokesperson Police Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said in a statement. The Quezon City Metropolitan Trial Court (MTC) Branch 138 reportedly issued the warrants to Trillanes, a fierce Duterte critic, and others in connection with their alleged participation in the controversial "Ang Totoong Narcolist" videos narrated by "Bikoy." Aside from Trillanes, those who were reportedly charged include Peter Joemel Advincula alias Bikoy, Father Flaviano Villanueva, Father Albert Alejo, Yoly Ong-Villanueva, Boom Enriquez, Jonnell Sanggalang, JM Saracho, Eduardo Acierto, Vicente Romano, and a certain Monique. "On orders of the Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 138 of Quezon City, the PNP is duty-bound to effect the arrest of all persons named in the warrant of arrest and ensure their security while under our custody," Banac said. In a separate press briefing at Camp Crame, Banac said they were still waiting for the copy of the arrest warrant from the court. The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) were tasked to effect the arrest of the suspects. Three of the respondents reportedly posted bail. Banac said they will no longer be included in the list of those to be arrested. Trillanes earlier in the day said he was out of the country for some engagements and will post bail once he gets back. "Aantabayanan natin ang pagbabalik ng sinumang nasa abroad at kaagad pagdating nila ay nakahanda ang PNP na isagawa ang pag-aresto (We will wait for the return of whoever is abroad and the moment they return, PNP will be ready to effect the arrest),” Banac said. Banac said there is no need to coordinate with the International Police Organization (Interpol) because Trillanes is not yet considered a fugitive of the law. "Hindi pa naman aabot sa ganoong level. Mayroon itong prescription period. Kapag talagang ang isang hinahanap ng batas ay hindi na mahanap after due diligence at hindi na matagpuan at malaman natin na ito ay nagtatago, isasagawa ang pagno-notify sa ating counterparts, ang Interpol,” Banac explained. (It will not reach that level yet. There is a prescription period. If someone wanted by the law cannot be found after due diligence and if we discover they are in hiding, we will notify our counterparts Interpol.) He said the prescription period before a subject of arrest is referred to Interpol is 30 days. This was not the first time Trillanes was ordered arrested by the current administration. In September 2018, Trillanes, then a senator, was arrested on charges of rebellion after Duterte issued Proclamation No. 527 which sought to revoke the amnesty granted to him in relation to his involvement in the Oakwood mutiny in 2003 and Manila Peninsula siege in 2007.
