Makati Med celebrates "small victories"

By Rizal Obanil Commenting on the after-effect of what he called a “blunder” on the part of a politician, Makati Medical Center (MMC) Medical Director and interim co-CEO Dr. Saturnino Javier said it served as a spark to draw more support for healthcare workers. In a Facebook post dated March 30, Javier said “The Senator Pimentel fiasco has galvanized even more public support for the healthcare professionals in the Philippines.” Saying also that his job is not only to update the medical staff on the current status at the MMC, but also to uplift “weary spirits” and reinvigorate “tired souls,” he enumerated what he called "small victories" that the hospital has achieved recently. The most prominent of these achievements is the discharge of 29 COVID-19 patients from their care, one of whom has already tested negative. To end his statement Dr. Javier wrote: “We continue to celebrate each other’s life — as we wake up each day to face the challenge anew. Stay safe. God Bless.”
