DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan – A School Campus Security Management Lecture was conducted last Saturday at the CSI Stadia in Dagupan City to ensure the safety and protection of the students and the academic community. About 300 participants joined the seminar initiated by the city government in cooperation with the Police Community Relations Group, headed by Chief Superintendent Agrimero A. Cruz Jr. Case scenarios were given and portrayed for real situation of crime incidents, including bullying and drug peddling, in order to better address such problems. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)

Balayan Fiesta

BALAYAN, Batangas – Foreign and local tourists as well as politicians and film celebrities have joined the town's fiesta activities here yesterday in honor of the town patron saint St. John the Baptist. The festivities were not marked only by water-drenching activities but also the yearly Parade of Lechons. There were about 300 "lechons" that were paraded along the main streets of the town. Among the notable politicians who were spotted at the residence of former Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita were former Las Piñas congresswoman Cynthia Villar and Rep. Mitos Magsaysay. (Ferdinand F. Whirlpool Event

Whirlpool Home Appliances will be holding its regular two-day Warehouse Sale on June 29-30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at its facility at Lot 3, Block 4, Phase III Dennison St., Sterling Industrial Park, Libtong, Meycauayan in Bulacan. Items on sale are Class B units, which are brand new appliances but are slightly dented or scratched. Discounts on selected items can go up to 60 percent. Rotaract Project

VIRAC, Catanduanes – Fifty-one children from selected barangays of Virac benefited from the Adopt-a-Child project of the Rotaract Club of Virac. The activity, held last June 17, aims to provide support to less fortunate kids from selected barangays of the town by giving school supplies, toys, and treating them in a fast food chain. It is also part of the club's community service being conducted monthly, which also includes gift-giving projects and feeding programs. Rotaract Club of Virac is a youth organization chartered under the Rotaract Program of the Rotary International. (PIA)

L.T.O. Revamp

PILAR, Bataan – To further improve its services, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) here has designated two new chiefs of offices, filling finally the vacant positions for several days. Assistant Secretary Virgie Torres, LTO chief, approved the designation of Ronald S. Dabu as chief of LTO Registration section and Carlito Nakpil, chief of LTO Licensing section in Bataan. The designation of the two LTO chiefs was welcomed by Bataeños since both of them are professionals, privy to their positions and have been on the job for quite long time. It was learned that Rep. Abet S. Garcia, 2nd district-Bataan, recommended and supported the designation of Dabu, noting his perhaps his qualification and being a competent to the job as LTO chief. (Mar T. Supnad)
