Nograles: Health workers don't need to secure accreditation IDs

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said on Monday that health workers do not need to get accreditation ID from the Department of Health (DOH) so they can go to work during the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
In a press briefing, Nograles said health workers are already doing so much that they should not be bothered with securing IDs anymore.

"Napaka-importante po ng tungkulin at trabaho ng ating mga health workers (Our health workers have a very important job). Our health workers, you are our real-life heroes. We thank you for your sacrifice and service to the nation," he said.
"Alam ko po kung gaano kahirap ang trabaho po ninyo at ang tungkulin ninyo kaya hindi namin kayo pahihirapan dito sa accreditation IDs (I know how difficult your job is we won't give you a hard time securing accreditation IDs)," he added.
According to Nograles, health workers' ID issued by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), the hospitals, or health establishments they are working for should be sufficient for them to go around the quarantined area.
The government has been issuing accreditation IDs to other front liners to allow them to go out of their homes during the quarantine period since the previous week.
Media workers, in particular, are given until March 26 to go around the quarantined area without the special pass from the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases due to the delay in the processing of applications.
According to Nograles, health workers are not covered by the March 26 deadline given to other front liners to secure their special pass.
"Hindi na po kayo kasama doon sa March 26 deadline. Hindi na po kayo kasama doon sa kailangang kumuha ng accreditation IDs (You are not covered by the March 26 deadline. You do not need to secure accreditation IDs)," he told health workers.
Malacañang has thanked health workers and other front liners for their sacrifices to help the government fight the threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
"The Office of the President supports these front liners and commits itself to throw the resources of its office to ensure that they will continue to get the assistance they need in the performance of their duties," Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said.
"These selfless and dedicated countrymen of ours who man the ramparts against this scourge of an unseen invader that threatens the very survival of our nation are the new heroes of this generation," he added.
