Given our perennial problem with traffic jams, driving your own car in Manila can be stressful. (Feeling mo ’yung iniwan mong tuta sa bahay, pag-uwi mo, aso na sya!)
X Guia
Online host X Guia took this problem as an opportunity and produced her own talk show on YouTube titled “My Innoverse.” She interviews personalities while driving her SUV around the metro. (Ay, sana walang MMDA sa area!)
“It was the first talk show on wheels in the country, on YouTube. I developed the concept a little after my Dad died in December 2012 and dedicated the first quarter of 2013 in pre-prod and development. My first episode came out in March 2013 and it trended on YouTube. The concept is a talk show on wheels so I have singing segments, daldal segments. I wanted the audience to feel as if they’re riding the car with us. I love to drive and talk so I married the two and made a show out of it,” X shared.
Her love for television talk shows was a huge influence. (So, pinanood mo ba ako noon? Nung uso pa talk show sa Pinas!)
“I was watching David Letterman, my favorite talk show host, and he had Jerry Seinfeld on promoting his new show at the time ‘Comedian In Cars Getting Coffee.’ It was like a lightbulb instantly lit up in my mind and that same night I was conceptualising the show, lining up possible guests, etc. I called it ‘My Innoverse’ because my car at the time was an Innova and it was my Universe. My mom helped me get the name right coz originally I wanted to call it ‘My Innoversation’ because I’d have conversations and that didn’t sound right,” X recalled. (Pakilala mo ko sa nanay mo, baka may maibigay din saking show title!)
The former PTV4 host believes this is one of her significant projects. (Napaisip tuloy ako, kung ako ba meron?!)
“There was fulfilment even in the simplest things, like when people who watch the show would comment and say nakaka-relate sila sa topic. Meron ako isang episode I featured an interesting business and people would comment gusto ko pa mag-business nyan, paano po and I would answer and just thinking that I helped that person better him or herself through business opportunities is simply wonderful.” (Ay… may…..puhunan!)
The 30- year-old University of Santo Tomas Journalism graduate is set to give her online show a new look, a new approach soon. (Ay paandar si ateng!)
“I just want to drive around the country and show a different side to it – uplift our image and our spirits rather than the usual drab outlook traditionally presented,” X says. (Ate, pasakay minsan ha! Push!)
