Bureau of Immigration (BI) personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) have expressed appreciation for a fast-food chain for providing them meals during this Corona Virus-19 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Jollibee Foods Corporation has been delivering meals to immigration frontliners on duty at NAIA amid the health crisis.
“This is a major help for our personnel as it is very hard to buy food at the airport since most establishments are closed,” said BI Commissioner Jaime Morente.
It can be recalled the BI has scaled down its operations at NAIA following the temporary closure of all terminals except one.
“At a time like this, bayanihan is important, and frontliners including those from immigration appreciate support from all sectors for them to continue their work," Morente said.
Likewise, Morente thanked other organizations and individuals that have donated personal protective equipment (PPE) to the bureau.
“We are sourcing face masks, alcohol, and other PPEs but difficult to procure due to worldwide demand," he added.
Earlier, the BI received facemasks and sanitizers from the Korean and Chinese Embassies as well as PPEs from Malacanang, the Philippine Air Force, and the Manila International Airport Authority.(Jun Ramirez)
