BIRTH CENTER IN ANGELES CITY

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan took pride in inaugurating earlier this week the Mother Bless Birthing Clinic (MBBC) in Barangay Cutud, here, as he referred to it as one of his special projects. “This is one of the great opportunities of delivering good and proper health service to our people here in Angeles especially in making maternal and child care reachable to every family,” said Pamintuan. Governors Lilia Pineda of Pampanga and Carlos Jericho Petilla of Leyte, as well as Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Ted Herbosa, graced the occasion. (Franco G. Regala)

G.S.P. AWARDS

TARLAC CITY, Tarlac — The Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) Tarlac Chapter was cited for its role in serving the country during the recent orientation and induction of its officers and members. Vice Governor Pearl Erguiza Pacada, a two-term Council President of GSP Tarlac, spearheaded the two-day event at La Maja Rica Hotel, here. She received two awards – a Plaque of Appreciation for her exemplary performance in supporting the programs of the GSP; and the Service Award for her outstanding contributions to the programs and projects of the GSP. BLOOD DONATION

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union — Chief Superintendent Franklin Jesus B. Bucayu, Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) director, led last Friday the blood donation activity at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC). The activity was conducted in support of Project “Sagut a Biag” as part of the celebration of National Disaster Consciousness Month and 17th Police Community Relations Month here. The project: “Sagut a Biag,” an Ilocano phrase which literally means “gift for life,” is a continuing impact program of the Ilocos police regional office that gives assistance to less fortunate who are in need of blood. ROCKFALL-PRONE

BINANGONAN, Rizal — Fear and confusion continue to rule in the hearts of residents of Sitio 6, a community settled on a mountain slope, where a huge boulder tumbled down and wrecked a section of a house on Thursday night. Experts from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) proceeded to the area yesterday to inspect and draft recommendations for the area, which had been earlier classified as “rockfall-prone.” The local government and barangay officials are already considering plans to find possible resettlement of residents in case the MGB tags Sitio 6 as a geo-hazard area. SM: FREE MOVIES FOR ELDERLY

OLONGAPO CITY, Zambales — The SM City Olongapo branch is giving free movie passes to all senior citizens of this city. According to an SM City Olongapo official, only residents with senior citizen’s identification card duly signed by the authorized signatories and issued by the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) shall be entitled to free admission. She added that valid senior citizens shall be allowed to avail free admission once a week every Monday of the movie’s first screening only. “This is applicable to both foreign and local movies,” she said. She reiterated that this is not applicable for sneak previews, advance screenings, legal holidays, special holidays, first day of screening, special public screenings and sports or live events.
