MANILA, Philippines — After the Michael de Mesa and Geoff Eigenmann team-up in GMA7’s “Kasalanan Bang Ibigin Kita” comes another dramatic soap opera with another Eigenmann tandem headlining it – Jaclyn Jose and Andi Eigenmann. This is in ABS-CBN’s “Kahit Puso’y Masugatan.”

Airing tonight (July 9) in the Kapamilya Network’s Primetime Bida block, “Kahit Puso’y Masugatan” will surely bring to fore the mother and daughter acting prowess. Even if they don’t intend to compete with each other, their individual acting skills will certainly be in the limelight along with the rest of the show’s lead cast – Gabby Concepcion, Jake Cuenca and Iza Calzado.

“I’m very happy for having the opportunity to work with my mom. Even if she’s my mom, I still see her as a respected actress,” expressed Andi.

She added that on the set of the series, Andi doesn’t see her as the mother. At work, she sees her as the actress that she is.

Jaclyn admitted to being nervous being in a soap opera with her daughter. “I’m very excited to work with Andi in this series especially that it’s being directed by Wenn Deramas.”

The teleserye marks the return of director Wenn Deramas in drama (after directing a number of comedy movies). He said casting both Andi and Jaclyn definitely added spice to “Kahit Puso’y Masugatan.”

Meanwhile, Iza said, “Andi really delivers well in our scenes. It’s very important that Andi trusts me in our scenes that’s why our bonding is very important. I was very impressed with what she can do at a very young age!”

“Kahit Puso’y Masugatan” looks at the relationship of Andrea (Iza) and Veronica (Andi). Growing-up like real sisters, their fates intertwined when they saw each other again as adults with one glitch – they are both in-love with the same man, Rafael played by Jake Cuenca. Things get more complicated when Rafael’s wealthy father Miguel played by Gabby Concepcion falls in love with Andrea.

Also in the cast are Malou de Guzman, Mylene Dizon, Assunta de Rossi, Cris Villanueva, DJ Durano, Mickey Ferriols and Barbara Perez.

UK Band At Hard Rock Café 

UK rock band I Am Giant performs for the very first time in Manila at Hard Rock Café Makati today, July 9, at 9 p.m. for the Philippine release of their debut full-length studio album entitled “The Horrifying Truth.”

The London-based quartet is comprised of English vocalist Ed Martin, sticks-man Shelton Woolright (formerly of multi-platinum selling band Blindspott), bassist Paul Matthews (formerly of Auckland outfits Stylus and Tadpole) and veteran guitar-slinger Aja Timu – the last to join the IAG line-up.

“The Horrifying Truth” debuted at number 2 in the New Zealand charts and has currently achieved Gold certification. Other singles are “And We’ll Defy,” “Let It Go,” “City Limits,” “Neon Sunrise,” and “Living The Crash.”

Ultimate Clubbing At Station 15

Opened recently in Tagaytay City is a bar and restaurant called Station 15.

During the launch, celebrities like K Brosas and Boy 2 Quizon attended the event along with locals and Manileños.

Owned by Myra Marquez Nunez and Mark Anthony Rafols, both true clubbers for years now, Station 15 will have the best DJs spinning the most happening club songs every night with a bit of R&B and chill out music thrown into the mix. There’s also a dance floor upstairs.

A restaurant as much as it is a bar, Station 15 has a menu specially prepared by celebrated chefs. The joint is also open at lunch time some days and holds Karaoke nights and special events on a regular basis.
