Kapamilya actor LA Santos admitted that he gets nervous doing scenes with veteran stars but it only pushes him to strive harder, work harder.

"May kaba rin talaga pero nakatulong po yung kaba. Kapag kabado po kayo, doon kayo nakakapag-focus. Kaya kayo kinakabahan kasi gusto ninyong mabigay yung best n'yo po," said LA when asked if he got nervous doing scenes with veteran stars during an interview with Boy Abunda for "The Interviewer" recently.

(There's also some nervousness, but it helped. When you're nervous, you can focus. You're nervous because you want to give your best.)

LA appeared in the series "Darna" and "Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin." In preparing for his role in "Darna," as one of the friends of Narda, LA hired an acting coach.

"We did one month of training with Malou Crisologo. Kapag nasa set po ako, may coach po talaga. Hindi pa po ako magaling na magaling. But I really listen po so I want someone to coach me," he said.

LA also admitted he had a crush on "Darna" co-star Janella Salvador, who plays Valentina.

"Kinuwento ko sa kanya yun. Sabi niya ang pangit. Ayoko nga. Eeeww! Pero parang naging magkapatid na talaga kami ni Janella. Sabi ko sa kanya (Janella) alam mo ba ikaw ang celebrity crush ko? Sabi naman niya oo alam ko na-search ko. Natawa na lang talaga siya," said LA, laughing. "Bilib na bilib talaga ako sa kanya."

LA, 22, said that his heart belongs to showbiz. "Acting and singing. This is what I really want to do. Gusto ko talagang gumawa ng sariling path para masabi ko pong ako si LA Santos."

"As a person, I'm outgoing and very happy. Yun ang gusto ko ipa-feel sa lahat. Gusto ko kapag nakikita nila si LA Santos, they will feel happy inside.

"Right now in my career, nasa stage ako na kinikilala ko ang sarili ko as an artist. Inaalam ko na talaga yung gusto kong gawin, yung gusto kong marating and alam ko na po yung gusto kong ma-feel ng tao sa akin," LA added.

LA said that he wants to do comedy and spread happiness. But as a singer, "mukhang pupuntahan ko is R&B na rin. Papunta na ako sa style ng South Border, Brian McKnight," he said. "I'm still in a learning process ng buhay ko at marami pa ako gustong matutunan in mastering my craft."

These days, he's focused on showbiz and basketball has taken a backseat.

"Basketball I see it as a hobby na lang po. I just realized talaga I was born to be a singer, and an actor. When I was still playing basketball, pinipilit ko na lang matawa yung mga tao kesa maka-score. Doon ko na realize na hindi na talaga ako sa basketball," LA said. "But music will always be a part of me. Never ko siyang iiwanan."

(I see basketball as just a hobby. I just realized that I was born to be a singer, and an actor. When I was still playing basketball, I was just trying to make people laugh instead of scoring. That's where I realize that I'm not really into basketball anymore. But music will always be a part of me. I will never leave music.)
