Año beats COVID-19 anew, returns to work Sep. 8

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año has recovered from his second bout with the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) and is now fit to work beginning September 8.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, DILG Undersecretary and spokesperson Jonathan Malaya said Año was declared by his doctors “as fit to work’’ and reassume his duties as head of agency.

“The Secretary tested negative for COVID-19 last September 2 and has fully recovered from the disease. We thank the public for your prayers and expressions of support to Secretary Año,’’ Malaya said.

Initially, Año contacted the virus last March 31 and recovered after being tested negative for COVID-19 on April 13.

But on August 15, Año was tested positive for COVID-19 anew.
