Emma Watson popularizes new term: self-partnered

British actress and activist Emma Watson described herself as being “self-partnered” instead of single as her 30th birth anniversary approaches.

“I never believed the whole I’m happy single spiel…. it took me a long time, but I’m very happy. I call it being self-partnered,” Watson said in an interview with British Vogue.

She, however, said she is going on dates.

“I was like, ‘Why does everyone make such a big fuss about turning 30? This is not a big deal…’” the actress said.

The actress admitted she grew “stressed and anxious” in the lead-up to her upcoming birthday in April.

“And I realize it’s because there is suddenly this bloody influx of subliminal messaging around,” she said.

“If you have not built a home, if you do not have a husband, if you do not have a baby, and you are turning 30, and you’re not in some incredibly secure, stable place in your career, or you’re still figuring things out… There’s just this incredible amount of anxiety,” the actress added.

Watson also announced that she is set return to the screen playing Margaret “Meg” March in the adaptation of “Little Women” later this year.

“With Meg’s character, her way of being a feminist is making the choice – because that’s really, for me anyway, what feminism is about,” Watson explained.

Watson is known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series.
