In Paranaque, village officials get 20 percent of fines paid by COVID violators

The Paranaque City government has acknowledged the risk in enforcing provisions relating to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).  

Therefore, Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said fines and penalties paid by violators of COVID-19-related city ordinances and other measures shall be collected by the City Treasurer from which fines, 20 percent shall be distributed to authorized apprehending barangay officials.

Olivarez said the name of the apprehending official must be stated in the official violation receipts, citation tickets or any other official notice of violation.

The city government is strictly implementing the mandatory wearing of face shield and other similar protective equipments in workplaces and in public transportation during quarantine.  

Olivarez said violators will be fined the amount of P1,000 and eight hours of community service  or six hours detention for the first offense; P3,000 and 11 hours of community service or 9 hours detention for the second offense; and P5,000 and 14 hours of community service or 12 hours detention for the third offense.
