The driver of the bus that rammed 11 motorcycles, a car, and another bus in Makati City underwent a drug test today (September 4), Makati Police chief Colonel Oscar "Jack" Jacildo said.
"e already requested for a medical exam and drug test to the driver as he has manifested abnormal behavior," he said.
When 29-year-old driver Marlon Nacaytona was apprehended, Jacildo said he was even smiling and seemed acting oddly.
"It was as if he did not do anything wrong. He was even smiling when my men accosted him," Jacildo said.
Jacildo suspects that Nacaytona is either intoxicated or under the influence of illegal drugs when he rammed the vehicles.
According to Jacildo, the suspect already hit the car and did not stop and continued to ram the vehicles waiting for the stop light to go green along Osmeña Highway around 9 a.m. Friday.
This is why, he said, he is not buying the alibi of Nacaytona who claimed that the bus' brakes failed.
One of the injured individuals is a Coast Guard officer whose motorcycle got totally wrecked, the police chief said.
"Responders said they rescued him under the bus as he got sandwiched. His vehicle was totally wrecked," Jacildo said.
On February 12, 2020, a jeepney driver who ran over students in Makati tested positive for drug use. He also claimed that his brakes also failed. One student died while seven others got injured.
