RESCUE BOATS
ROSALES, Pangasinan — The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) turned over recently rubber boats to Pangasinan and the local government units (LGUs) of Rosales and Alaminos City. Undersecretary Proceso Domingo, head of the Special Concerns Office of the OCD, said the rescue equipment will improve the readiness of each province in the region in disaster risk reduction and management. Mayor Ricardo Revita received the equipment for Rosales town while City administrator Col. Wilmer Panabang represented Alaminos City Mayor Hernani Braganza. Board Member Amadeo Espino thanked the OCD for its valuable help and support to the province. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
1,000 MAHOGANY TREES FOR ABRA
TAYUM, Abra — Provincial officials and employees planted 1,000 mahogany seedlings in idle lands abandoned by the Cellophil Resources Corporation (CRC) in Barangay Gaddani, here, last week. This is part of Governor Eustaquio P. Bersamin’s plan to establish a man-made forest and a mini park in the lowland Abra as a eco-tourism project. He shared how other countries he had visited develop and maintain their mini parks so people have a cool and refreshing place to spend their holidays. With mini parks, economic activities are also created thus giving livelihood to the local people thereby contributing to the overall socio-economic development of the province, he said. (PIA)

ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal — The city’s persons with disability (PWDs) are hoping that the city government will soon appoint a leader who will head the group of the handicapped in this city. As the nation observes the 34th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week, the hundreds of the PWDs who are based in this city are excited to see who among them will be chosen by Mayor Danilo Leyble to head the Persons With Disability Affairs Office (PDAO). In a recent general assembly of the disabled, City Social Welfare Division head Nadeia Sarte said Leyble will choose a PWD leader from their nominees. (Nel B. Andrade)
LIMAY PROVIDES TRAINING AND JOBS
LIMAY, Bataan — Mayor Ver Roque is providing not only skills training but also other forms of assistance to his constituents in his bid to have them get employed easily. Prior to their deployment, Roque reminded the other day the newly-recruited workers here to do their best in giving their services to the multinational companies hiring personnel and workers in this industrial town. Speaking to the newly-hired skilled workers inside the Municipal Hall, Mayor Roque told the workers that his administration fully supports them in their works, such as in fast-tracking the issuance of barangay and police clearances, among others. POTABLE WATER
MAGALANG, Pampanga — At least 700 families from this town have benefited from the water system project by the Pampanga provincial government utilizing the natural spring in the Mount Arayat for local water consumption of the residents in Barangay Ayala here. “This is economical since we are not using electricity. There is a continuous flow of water going to our tanks,” Barangay Captain Ricardo David. He said that there were about three water tanks constructed in different strategic areas to ensure sufficient supply of water for the residents. (Mark Anthony N. Manuel)
