Leonardia said that the sealing off included the place of residence of the fatality, and those households within the 30-meter radius. He said that about 130-150 households within the 30-meter radius will not be allowed to go out of their houses for 14 days. "The government will provide them food every five days," he added. The mayor said that basic necessities of the affected households will be coursed through the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERTs). He added that policemen, barangay watchmen, barangay and city health officials will supervise them during the whole duration of the lockdown. "The people accepted the decision of the local government on the imposition of lockdown because it’s for their own good and the good of everybody in the city of Bacolod," he said. This will become our model, he added. Meanwhile, the local chief executive expressed his condolences to the family of the said fatality labelled as eighth COVID-19 confirmed case here, who died while being treated at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here on April 9. "It is with deep sadness that we announce the second COVID-19 death in Bacolod City," he said, in a statement. The fatality was a 69-year-old male who had hypertension as underlying illness. Before his demise, he suffered from diarrhea for three days and complained difficulty of breathing on April 8. He had no travel history. His swab samples were taken on April 9 and were sent to a biolab in Iloilo City. On April 21, his results came out positive. "With this sad happening, we express our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of the victim. This is news that should remind us all of the seriousness of this health crisis we are facing," Leonardia said. Leonardia said that nine members of his family have already been swabbed, and were brought to the city's quarantine center for isolation until the test results are released. Contact-tracing is still being continued. While most of the COVID-19 positive patients have recovered and are now well, he still appeal to all, to strictly follow the guidelines of our Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). "This is a measure that, if done correctly, could help prevent substantially the spread of this COVID-19," he said. He said that fighting COVID-19 is a matter that has to be a teamwork. "We are confident that we can overcome this through the public's cooperation and the help of the concerned agencies," he added.
