Chinese tourists from other countries may enter PH – BI

By Marjaleen Ramos Chinese nationals coming from other countries are allowed to enter the Philippines, the Bureau of Immigration said Wednesday. (MANILA BULLETIN) (MANILA BULLETIN) "Kung wala po silang travel dun sa apat na areas po within the last 14 days, they can be admitted po," Immigration Spokesperson Dana Sandoval said in an interview with DZMM Teleradyo. "Ang logic behind it is that hindi naman po iyong nationality ang pinipili ng sakit but the areas kung saan po ito kumakalat,” she added. The government had earlier ordered a temporary ban on tourists coming from Greater China, including Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, or those who have been to Covid-19-affected areas within 14 days prior to their arrival in the Philippines. “Any nationalities po na galing doon , pag hindi naman doon, pwede naman pumasok ng Pilipinas,” she reiterated. As of Wednesday, the number of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections has reached 42,708 in China, with nearly 2,500 new cases reported, and fatalities totalling 1,107 people.
