The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has turned over 88,000 washable face masks to the local government of San Juan on Wednesday (October 7).
The turnover ceremony was held at the San Juan City Hall Atrium and witnessed by PNP Deputy for Administration and chief of Joint Task Force COVID Shield Lt. General Guillermo Eleazar and Lt. General Cesar Binag, PNP deputy chief for operations and chairman of the COVID Operations Task Force.
According to Mayor Francis Zamora, the 88,000 reusable face masks are additional to the initial 4,000 pieces which were given to the city government’s Libreng Mask Para sa Masa program.
“San Juan City is thankful to the national government for this initiative. This will be a big help to our indigent constituents and major contribution in our fight against COVID-19,” Zamora said.
Aside from the reusable face masks, DSWD Undersecretary Rene Glen Paje also turned over personal protective equipment (PPE) to the local government for distribution to the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team in the city.
Eleazar also conducted an inspection to 30 San Juan Police Bike Patrollers (who were given by Zamora brand new bicycles and were equipped with body cameras) to augment the PNP’s effort to strictly enforce the city ordinances on wearing of face masks, face shields, anti-spitting, and new normal.
