SCHOOLS TO BE C.C.T.V.-SECURED

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has approved in its regular session on July 30, Provincial Resolution No. 1343-2012 encouraging the Department of Education (DepEd) to cause the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras within the premises of schools in Pangasinan both public and private. Under the resolution, authored by SP Member Jeremy Agerico B. Rosario, its purpose is to decrease the number of crimes which are in school related through the presence of CCTV. Rosario said CCTVs are affordable and even encouraged school administrations, school organizations like Parents-Teachers associations and alumni groups to help raise funds for the said purpose. FARM ASSISTANCE

STA. ANA, Pampanga — Some 8,000 farmers in the province recently benefited from the provincial government farmer’s assistance program, one of the top priorities of Governor Lilia Pineda to help uplift the lives of the Capampangan farmers. Provincial Agriculturist Crispin Guinto said individual farmers who own a one hectare of farmland or less each received P650 financial assistance from the Capitol. “This amount is important to them. In this period of time, farmers are in need of financial assistance to buy fertilizer and pesticides instead of seeds,” Guinto said. (Franco G. Regala)

‘BAYANING LAGUNENSE’

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — A “Bayaning Lagunense” award was given by Rotary Club of Calamba City District 3820 to the late Laguna Governor Felicisimo San Luis during their 11th Induction and Hand-over ceremony held at Ding Hao cuisine, here, last Wednesday night. Newly elected president Francis Villaflor handed over the award to Laguna 4th District Rep. Edgar “Egay” San Luis, son of the latter who served for 33 years as governor of Laguna, and was regarded as the father of the agro-industrial development in the province. (Ferdinand F. Castro)

LUCENA CITY, Quezon — Mayor Barbara Ruby Talaga has brought basic services of the city government directly to the thousands of residents of the far-flung village of Barra, under the “City Hall sa Barangay” program. The City Hall sa Barangay is a complete package of services of the local government offices including free civil registrations, medical mission, peace and order, planning and development, manpower skills training that provides free haircut, lecturing on appliance repair servicing, reflexology, agriculture, health, veterinary offices, said City Administrator Ramon Y. NORTH KOREAN PUPILS IN CULULUT

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Hundreds of students and teachers from Calulut Elementary School (CES) welcomed yesterday some 150 elementary pupils from North Korean for the three-Friday  English speaking workshop tour at CES in Barangay Calulut, here. Miss. Rosaline Wijangco, CES Principal-1 said that the Korean pupils are now on their second Friday of the English speaking teaching clinic conducted by CES teachers.
