Robredo meets with transport groups, offers aid to COVID-affected workers

Vice President Leni Robredo on Friday held a consultation meeting with the leaders of various transport groups and offered assistance to the members who are affected by the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.

Robredo met with the leaders of transport groups coming from Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Southern Tagalog in her office at Quezon City Reception House.
 
During the meeting, Robredo discussed with the representatives of transport groups the impact of the pandemic - especially on the lives of thousands of drivers displaced by the community quarantine and their families.
 
In an effort to help them recover from the crisis brought by COVID-19, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) also committed to provide various forms of livelihood assistance to affected members of the groups.
 
Meanwhile, Robredo also encouraged the leaders as well as the members of the transport groups to explore potential jobs available on Sikap.PH under her office’s "BAYANIHANAPBUHAY" initiative, for drivers, as well as for the unemployed members of their families.
 
The OVP launched the “BAYANIHANAPBUHAY” in September to help displaced Filipino workers find jobs amid crisis brought by COVID-19. 
 
Employers are allowed to post and upload their job vacancies to the online platform. It also aims to make “job hunting easier for workers looking for employment opportunities.” As of Oct. 6, there are over 17,000 job listings posted on Sikap.PH.
