Palace denounces killings of anti-drug agents, Ozamiz judge

"Nakikiramay ang Palasyo sa mga pamilya at mga mahal sa buhay na naiwan ng limang Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) personnel na pinatay sa isang ambush sa Lanao del Sur noong Biyernes ," Roque said during a press conference in Malacañang. The five PDEA agents were killed by unidentified gunmen in Kapai, Lanao del Sur while traveling to Marawi City last Friday. The police said it was probable the murder of the drug enforcement agents was related to the government's campaign against illegal drugs. President Duterte is scheduled to visit Wednesday the wake of the slain five PDEA agents in Maguindanao before he travels to Bali, Indonesia for a regional meeting. Roque also offered the government's sympathy to the family of the slain judge Edmundo Pintac who was handling the case of the Parojinogs in Ozamiz. He said the murder of the judge was discussed in the Cabinet meeting last Monday. "Inaatasan ng Pangulo ang pamunuan ng Philippine National Police (PNP) na gawin ang lahat upang mahuli sa lalong madaling panahon ang mga taong may kinalaman sa karumal-dumal na krimen na ito ," he said. "Ang mga ganitong pagpatay ay mariin naming ke-nokondena. Ang mga ito ay patunay na totoo ang panganib na kinakaharap ng ating mga otoridad sa pagsugpo sa ipinagbabawal na gamot ," he said. "These deaths attest that the drug war is real," Roque said.
