The Golden Years exhibit at the Cultural Center of the Philippines main lobby is extended until mid-August.

The photo exhibit of movie ads and posters from "The First Golden Years of Philippine Cinema (1936-1941)" comes from the collection of Danny Dolor and is billed "Alitaptap Kikilapkilap," presented by CCP and Cinemalaya.

The exhibit opened July 20 with pomp and circumstance, attended by two movie queens (Mila del Sol and Vilma Santos), two National Artists (Eddie Romero for cinema and Bien Lumbera for literature), pillar of the movie industry Marichu Vera-Perez Maceda of Sampaguita Pictures, and Movie & Television Review & Classification Board Chair Grace Poe-Llamanzares. They cut the ceremonial ribbons, assisted by Mr. Dolor.

CCP president Raul Sunico delivered the opening remarks.

Guests of the event came from all walks of life, among them veteran LVN stars Delia Razon, Lilia Dizon, Marita Zobel, Luz Valdez, Myrna Quizon-Obligacion, and Pempe Rodrigo, good friend of the just-mentioned actresses. Also present were Digna Santiago and Dan & Lina Santiago of Premiere, Mr. & Mrs. Tirso Cruz III (nee Lynn Ynchausti), director Mel Chionglo.

The other guests: Dr. Jaime Laya, Ramon Orlina, Criselda Lontok, Ben Farrales, Nolie Hans, Christian Espiritu, Tanini de Leon, Marivic Madrigal Vasquez, Nes Jardin, Menchu Padilla, Virgie Balatico, Celso Caparas, Romy Vitug, Ricky Khan (son of pre-war movie queen Lucita Goyena), Parañaque Vice Mayor Gus Tambunting (grandson of Ms. Del Sol) and mother Terry, Marty Magsanoc, Cesar Hernando, Bibsy Carballo, Nora Calderon, Lulu Coching, Ricky Lo, Bayani San Diego.

The country’s premier soprano, Rachelle Gerodias, sang three Tagalog classics: "Bituing Marikit," "Silayan," and "Ako’y Kampupot," the theme songs of pre-war films.

Mr. Dolor noted that only five pre-war movies are still existing. "Zamboanga," "Ibong Adarna," "Tunay na Ina," "Pakiusap," and "Giliw Ko." What are left are ads and posters, many of which are displayed in the Golden Years exhibit at the CCP.

The Golden Years exhibit opening was covered by Mario Dumaual of ABS-CBN, Jeff Fernado of TV5, and Lhar Santiago of GMA.

Back-To-Back

Promo Tour In Cebu

GMA Network recently provided Kapusong Cebuanos with weekend treats via the "Hindi Ka Na Mag-iisa" and "One True Love" promo tours.

Cebuanos joined Kapuso stars Jennylyn Mercado and Sid Lucero along with other cast members of "Hindi Ka Na Mag-iisa" – Angelu de Leon, Crystal Reyes, Carl Guevarra and Frank and Saab Magalona – bannered the Kapuso Barangayan events in Brgy. Tisa and Brgy. Tejero and the Kapuso Mall Show at SM City Consolacion.

Jennylyn recalled that her first regional trip with GMA Network was in Cebu. "Cebu is my second home, I go here with my relatives once a year. I really like it here."

The following weekend (July 14), GMA visited Cebu again for another treat – this time with the lead stars of the Network’s Primetime program "One True Love." Alden Richards and Louise de los Reyes were met by thousands of Cebuano fans in a Kapuso mall show at SM City Cebu. Jamming with them that day was "Party Pilipinas’" Kris Lawrence.

GMA TV Cebu Station Manager Ann Marie Tan is truly delighted on the outcome of the back-to-back promo tours. "It warms my heart to see my fellow Cebuanos having a great time with their favorite Kapuso stars. Those two GMA shows were sure hits among all Cebuano fans," she said.

Mondays to Fridays, "Hindi Ka Na Mag-iisa" airs after "Eat Bulaga" on GMA Afternoon Prime, while "One True Love" airs after "Makapiling Kang Muli" on GMA Telebabad.
