August 13, 2012, 7:52pm

CAMP TOLENTINO, Bataan — Nearly 1,000 Bataan police officers and personnel will undergo training on shooting skills to improve their agility and keep them sharp and combat-ready, the Police Provincial Office (PPO) director said yesterday. Senior Superintendent Ricardo Zapata, PPO director, said he initiated the marksmanship training of his police personnel to keep them fit in defending the citizenry. “We’ll do something to provide them live bullets so they can practice properly,” said Zapata, who mentioned that gun enthusiast, Mayor Charlie Pizarro of Pilar, will accommodate them at his firing range in Mt. Samat. (Mar T. Supnad)

‘TULONG EXPRESS’

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — With monsoon rains and typhoons spawning destruction and displacing residents in this province every rainy season, SM City Calamba in partnership with SM Foundation Inc. (SMFI) has launched “Oplan Tulong Express.” Ms. Cristy Angeles, who heads (SMFI), said the program gives out grocery packages in four affected villages — Lingga, Sampiruhan, Palingon and Uwisan. SM City Calamba also worked closely with the Calamba Local Government Officials headed by City Mayor Joaquin Chipeco, Jr., and the Department of Social Welfare of Development in the donation distribution. In last week’s flooding, a total of 13,975 families were adversely affected and SM City Calamba distributed relief goods for the victims. (Ferdinand F. Castro)
