Calasiao village leaders under self-quarantine

CALASIAO, PANGASINAN – Mayor Joseph Arman C. Bauzon rebuffed reports that his town has recorded a confirmed case of COVID-19, while he admits that all barangay heads who attended a meeting called by the municipal local government operations officer are now under self-quarantine.

Bauzon disclosed that village chiefs present at the meeting submitted themselves to a rapid test. One of them was found positive not once, but twice.
To further validate the result, the barangay leader underwent another test, administered this time by the Rural Health Unit (RHU) using the same brand of rapid test kit, and the result was negative.
Nevertheless, Bauzon said the barangay leader will undergo a swab test, this time using the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test which is the gold standard in testing for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Bauzon reported that the individual is not showing any signs of COVID-19 symptoms after a physical and medical examination conducted by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Jesus Arturo De Vera.
“He is now under the care of our health personnel. He is in isolation and is being monitored in the municipal’s quarantine facility,” Bauzon said.
As a precautionary measure, the rest of the village chiefs who attended the meeting were ordered by Bauzon to go on a 14-day home quarantine, including those they have had close contact with.
“Sasailalim din sila sa monitoring ng ating mga BHERT at RHU personnel. Nagsagawa na din po tayo ng disinfection sa buong munisipyo (They will undergo monitoring by our Barangay Health Emergency Response Team and RHU personnel. We also conducted disinfection throughout the entire municipality) especially where the meeting was held,” Bauzon said.
While waiting for the result of the swab test, Bauzon assured his townmates that Calasiao remains unaffected by COVID-19, as he reminded everyone to observe hygiene protocols such as wearing a face mask, social distancing, washing hands regularly, proper personal hygiene, disinfection, and staying home.
“Kailangan malakas ang ating resistensiya, at higit sa lahat, ang ating sama-samang panalangin sa Poong Maykapal na malampasan nating lahat ang krisis na ito (Our immune system should be strong, and above all, our collective prayers to God that we survive this crisis),” Bauzon said.
