The government should extend the modified lockdown in Metro Manila and other high-risk areas as there is still no sign of flattening of the curve, a group of researchers from the University of the Philippines (UP) suggested on Thursday.
Prof. Ranjit Rye of the UP-Diliman Political Science Department, in an interview over DZMM Teleradyo, said that Metro Manila as well as other high risk areas should remain under modified enhanced community quarantine until the data are clearer before transitioning to GCQ.
Guido David of the UP Institute of Mathematics, meanwhile, clarified they has yet to see the log of the two-week decrease of COVID-19 cases in the region and the southern city of Davao.
“Hindi pa natin talaga nakikita iyong flattening of the curve sa NCR at Davao City,” David said.
He then appealed for the public's cooperation as it is also important for the success of flattening the curve.
"Going forward. What we do as individuals is as important as government does. Government can't do this alone."
President Duterte is expected to announce Thursday night on whether or not to shift Metro Manila to general community quarantine.
