ILOILO WATER
ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PIA) — The Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) has increased water supply for its consumer. MIWD Manager Lee Jayme Jalbuena said two deep wells along theTigum River in Bgy. Tabucan, Cabatuan were drilled to increase water supply by at least 40 liters per second. The two R2.3 million wells built by Negros Rotadrill, Inc. was inaugurated August 17. The additional volume of water can serve 2,800 households in Iloilo City and Cabatuan, Sta. Barbara, and Pavia towns. MIWD will also build more wells in Oton and San Miguel towns to extract 5,000 cubic meters of water daily and build centralized treatment facilities in those towns to guarantee safety and quality of water supply from ground sources.

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA6) — Jamindan Police Station is judged most citizen–friendly police station in Capiz by a search evaluation panel. A plaque of recognition was received by Police S/Insp. Roman B. Salazar, Jr. in an awarding ceremony at the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) in Brgy. Lanot here. National Police Commission (Napolcom) regional director, Atty. Marte S. Palomar and Capiz police director S/Supt. Domingo S. Cabillan led the activity. The Jamindan PNP personnel were lauded for their exemplary performance from June 2011 to June 2012, coverage period of the contest among local police stations.

CAMP LAPU-LAPU, Cebu City — The Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Central Command (Centcom)’s new acting commander Maj. Gen. Jose Z Mabanta Jr., during the recent change of command ceremonies following Maj. Gen. Ralph Villanueva’s retirement shared his thoughts on the military’s Bayanihan sa Barangay project, a multi-stakeholder approach in winning peace. “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress and working together is success,” said the new acting Centcom commander who is also the chief of the PA’s 3rd Infantry Division. CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar (PIA) — P/Chief Inspector Elmer Soria urged his people to develop an atmosphere of optimism and teamwork during the recent awarding of four Samar Philippine National Police (PNP) elements with Medalya ng Papuri at Samar Police Provincial Office. “Concentrate your efforts on special laws,” Soria urged all chiefs of police of 24 municipal police stations and two city police stations in Samar. He also asked them to “enhance your campaign against illegal logging, illegal fishing, illegal gambling, illegal mining and illegal drugs.”

TACLOBAN CITY Leyte (PIA) — Two notorious pushers included in the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Eastern Visayas’ target list were arrested in a recent drug bust here. PDEA Director General Undersecretary Jose S. Gutierrez Jr. identified the target-listed suspects as alias Val, 48, a resident of Barugo, Leyte and alias Tonton, 25, also from Barugo. Val's cohort, identified as alias Pinne, 26, who also comes from Barugo was likewise arrested in the operation. The entrapment operation took place at Val's residence after an undercover PDEA agent who acted as buyer bought three plastic sachets of shabu weighing 0.046 grams from the suspects.
