STA. ROSA CITY, Laguna — The police station of this city has been named the Best City Police Station of 2011. Superintendent Ismael Fernandez, Santa Rosa chief of police, said teamwork and cooperation of stakeholders are what made the Santa Rosa City Police Station earn the award. “First and foremost, the teamwork and cohesiveness among the 126 members of the police force here in this police station is really what made us get the title. Because we need this to perform as a unit,” Fernandez said. (PIA)

RELIEF WORK

BIÑAN CITY, Laguna — Officials and students from an exclusive international school here donated relief goods for some 500 families affected by flood the other day. Father Ben Jance, registrar chaplain, and Peter Yap, adviser of student council, along with foreign students of Brent International School personally hand-over the relief goods including clothes and foods to the victims of flood at a covered court in Barangay San Antonio. City Mayor Marlyn Alonte-Naguiat thanked the management and students for the donation to flood victims in Canlalay, Malaban, and Dela Paz. (Ferdinand Castro)

ADVISORY BODY FOR C.C.T. FORMED

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela — Mayor Benjamin G. Dy signed last week Executive Order 14 creating the conditional cash transfer (CCT) or Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) advisory council, action team and grievance committee which will be responsible for prompt implementation of the 4Ps which is considered as a measure to speed up the distribution of cash assistance to the intended beneficiaries. Dy said the city’s 4Ps advisory council will be responsible for overseeing the health and education aspect of the cash transfer program while the 4Ps grievance committee will be responsible for the resolution of problems from 4Ps beneficiaries. T.B. CARAVAN

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The pursuit for a tuberculosis-free Pangasinan continues with the recent deployment of a TB (Tubercolosis) Caravan on the grounds of the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) in Bolingit, San Carlos City earlier this week. Some 94 patients from the towns of Binmaley, San Fabian, Malasiqui, Sta. Barbara, San Jacinto, Mangaldan, and Calasiao and San Carlos City benefited from the caravan. Provincial Health Officer Anna Marie Teresa De Guzman said the activity, which is among the healthcare programs of the Capitol, was done in observance of Lung Month and consistent with the governor’s campaign for a TB-free province. INTEGRATED CAMPAIGN

TABUK CITY, Kalinga — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has integrated disaster preparedness to the Seal of Good Housekeeping to keep local government units always prepared during times of disaster. Provincial DILG Director Francisco Gamatero said they are now requiring all LGUs to prepare local disaster plans from the provincial, municipal down to the barangay level which is also one basis for the release of calamity funds. He said this is one of the policies of the late Sec. Jesse Robredo – he wanted LGUs to comply with this before earning the seal of good housekeeping. (PIA)
