GenSan opens airport to commercial flights

The local government here has recommended the resumption of commercial flights at the city’s international airport starting Monday, October 19 after being suspended last August due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

City Administrator Arnel Zapatos said only six inbound flights per week will be allowed at the city’s airport.

He said the allowable fights will be serviced by the three airline companies – Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines and Air Asia – operating in the city.

Resumption of the commercial flights came after the city was placed under the modified general community quarantine status (MGCQ) from October 16 to October 31.

Local health authorities are set to implement stringent health protocols for arriving passengers, including the certification of negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests in the last 72 hours before the flight, and mandatory 14-day quarantine.
