Now, more than ever, people need all the help they can get in this time of public health crisis. (Vice President Leni Robredo/MANILA BULLETIN) And Manila has a superhero who swings into action in the battle against coronavirus pandemic: Spiderman! Johemie Quiñones, who was wearing a Spiderman costume, walked around to give food packs to street dwellers and frontliners in the country’s capital. Vice President Leni Robredo shared on Wednesday night the pleasant surprise of the friendly neighborhood from Hey Homies! condominiums on her official Facebook page. “This week, we worked with the leadership of Hey Homies! condominiums, who not only gave food from our donors, but also brought smiles to street dwellers and frontliners in Manila,” she said in a post. Robredo said the food packs were distributed to those living on different streets in Manila and frontliners like village officials, food delivery riders, and security guards. Hey Homies! condominiums is a private partner of Angat Buhay, Robredo’s flagship anti-poverty program. The Office of the Vice President has already provided 6,634 food and care packages to health workers and non-medical frontliners in Metro Manila under the enhanced community quarantine. Robredo said the intervention from Hey Homies! came after its tenants raised concerns over the welfare of street dwellers whom they have helped before the Luzon-wide lockdown. Quoting the man behind the mask, she said the food distribution was a “response to the plz of their college students, who remembered the street dwellers.” ”They replace each other in wearing the Spiderman suit, which is also the source of the happiness of those they meet,” she said.
