Regine Calls Movie With Aga ‘Epical’
MANILA, Philippines — It took them three years to finish the movie (they started shooting in 2009) but Aga Muhlach and Regine Velasquez promised everyone that their latest (and third) team-up “Of All The Things” is a good movie, that it’s worth the long wait.
“Actually, epic na itong movie namin sa tagal ng pagkagawa,” Regine laughed. “Gusto sana namin 10 years in the making, but then baka magalit na si Boss Vic.” About the long delay in the filming of the movie, Regine explained: “Hindi lang kasi magkatugma ang schedule namin noon ni Aga. Dalaga pa ako when we started it. Then nag-asawa ako, tapos nabuntis, nanganak. A few weeks ago, we finally had the time to finish the movie.”
“Of All The Things,” directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal for Viva Films, is the third team-up of Aga and Regine, the first two being “Dahil May Isang Ikaw” (1999) and “Pangako…Ikaw Lang” (2001), both box-office hits. “Of All The Things” is also the reunion of Aga and Regine with the box-office tandem of Direk Joyce and scriptwriter Mel del Rosario.
Regine’s character (Berns) is actually a social climbing Class A-fixer who is “well-connected” with politicians and other influential people. I heard that this character is based on a real person.
Berns uses her charm to get her way around when it comes to transactions and other legalities that need “quick fixing.” Regine said it’s a different role from what she has played in the past, but she promises fun and laughter and dramatic moments too brought about by their unconventional characters.
As excited as Aga and Regine about “Of All The Things” is the director. In a previous interview, Joyce said she’s ecstatic to be working again with Aga and Regine. She noted that the working relationship between the two had even improved a great deal through the years.
Aside from that, well, Aga changed in a way that he has developed a thirst for public service. He was inducted recently as a member of the Liberal Party and has announced political plans to run for congressman in Camarines Sur. As to Regine, well, she is now a devoted wife and mother!
“Of All The Things” also stars John Lapus, Mark Bautista, Ms. Gina Pareño, Tommy Abuel, Ariel Ureta, Jojo Alejar, Pinky Marquez, Nikki Bacolod, Raymond Lauchengco, and Jay Perillo.
“Of All The Things” opens on Sept. 26 in nationwide theaters.
Incidentally, Kapatid star Aga charmed his way into the hearts of 10,000 attendees at the recently concluded “Philippine Fiesta” celebrations held in Secaucus, New Jersey last Aug. 18-19. TV5 International sponsored this two-day event, known to many as the biggest annual gathering of Filipinos in the East Coast. Jessa Zaragoza, Rachel Alejandro, and K Brosas joined the “Pinoy Explorer” host in entertaining the supportive and enthusiastic crowd.
