Around 31 residents of Barangay Olympia in Makati City have been helped by the Makati City local government after their homes were destroyed in a fire on Dec. 7, the city government said.

According to the local government unit (LGU), the city distributed daily meals and temporary shelter to the victims at the multipurpose building in Barangay Bangkal. It also provided financial assistance to the affected individuals to help them in their recovery.
Makati Mayor Abby Binay reminded the city's residents to always be prepared and cautious when disasters, such as fires, occur.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the blaze, which happened along Kolmena Street corner Trabajo Street, started at 5:19 p.m. and reached the 2nd alarm at 5:36 p.m. It was declared fire out at 7:12 p.m.
No one was killed nor injured in the blaze. Arson investigators are still determining the cause of the fire.
