Almost 2,000 policemen have been reassigned to other areas as part of the measures of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to isolate the organization from partisan politics.
PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said those reassigned were found to have relatives running for local positions in their past assignments.
The information were either voluntarily provided by the policemen themselves, or where learned based on reports from other people.
Among the 1,971 reassigned, according to Fajardo, are 147 chiefs of police and field commanders.
Meanwhile, Fajardo reminded all candidates that no campaigning is allowed on Holy Thursday and Good Friday, according to the calendar of activities released by the poll body.
She said the PNP will strictly monitor all activities on those days and any observed violation will be documented and duly reported to the poll body.
