C.S.C. CELEBRATION
SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — Central Luzon’s 112th Civil Service Anniversary celebration began yesterday with various activities held inside this premier Freeport. CSC Region 3 Director Karin Litz Zerna said the program of activities include three parts that are keen on keeping the body and mind of civil servants in tiptop shape. The first part was a fun walk that started from the Waterfront Boardwalk and ended at the Subic Bay Remy Field. The second part was devoted to speeches and the third were the fun games among LGU officials, officers and staff of Zambales. (Jonas Reyes)
PINEDA: LET’S FOCUS ON LIVELIHOOD
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — In a bid to generate more livelihood programs, Gov. Lilia G. Pineda, vowed to implement the comprehensive and integrated delivery of services of the Public Employment Services Office (PESO), Provincial Cooperative and Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCEDO), Provincial Veterinary Office (PVET) and Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA). Pineda convened the provincial department heads and instructed the PESO led by Luningning Vergara to intensify its “Nego-Kart” livelihood project and fully develop other livelihood education and assistance programs to spur the earning potential of the poor. BARANGAY SYSTEM
TAGAYTAY CITY, Cavite — Civil registration was made easier, particularly for the underprivileged, with the barangay (village) system being implemented by officials following an ordinance enactment in this prime tourist destination city. All what the citizens have to do these days is to go to their barangay hall and see the secretary for civil registration service or facilitation of birth, marriage or death certificates. The move was made after Mayor Bambol Tolentino signed City Ordinance 2012-032 creating the Barangay Civil Registration System (BCRS) in Tagaytay that was unanimously approved by the Sangguniang Panglungsod (City Council) recently. REGION 4-B TO PUSH TOURISM
BUENAVISTA, Marinduque — The 41st Regional Development Council (RDC) meeting in Region 4- B will be hosted by the provincial government of Marinduque, said its Governor Carmencita O. Reyes yesterday. All governors of Region 4-B or MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) are expected to attend the meeting, along with mayors and leaders in the academe and private sector, on September 21 at the Bellarocca Hotel Resort and Spa, here. The said conference will be focusing on the National and Regional Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the inclusion of the region in the “national tourism blueprint.” (Ferdinand F. TREE PLANTING
ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal — Adhering to the theme “Creating a Healthy and Environment-Friendly Antipolo Through Tree Planting,” a total of 168 students and some 23 faculty and staff of Sun Hwa International Academy based in this city, trooped to an uphill portion of Barangay San Juan recently to plant 300 assorted fruit-bearing and hardwood trees. The Antipolo City Community-Based Forestland Protection Program (ACCBFPP) – Task Force Tubig-Kanlungan head Forester Eugenio Eugenio assisted the students and the school personnel in planting cupang, mahogany, and mango trees at the former sanitary landfill of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
