Here we go again.
Hospital bed occupancy in Metro Manila due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections is on the rise, particularly at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) where an abrupt increase in the admission of infected patients was noted.
Sudden surges in COVID-infections were also noted in at least Philippine embassies, within the ranks of the Philippine National Police (PNP), and even the Supreme Court.
And it is hoped that Alert Level 3, which will be implemented in Metro Manila on Jan. 3 to Jan. 15, 2022, would be able to stem the surge as this would be restricting mobility of the public anew.
These are among the top stories this Sunday afternoon, Jan. 2, 2022.

FIRST SUNDAY – Devotees attend mass at the Quiapo Church in Manila on the first Sunday of 2022, ahead of the imposition of the stricter Alert Level 3 starting Jan. 3 to Jan. 15, 2022, due to a resurgence in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections. (Ali Vicoy)
