President Duterte has urged government troops to practice "control" and limit the number of their children to two or three.
The President has proposed a small family for every soldier and policeman so they could live comfortably in the new houses being built by government.

"That was the universal complaint when I became a President na ‘yung ibinigay na mga bahay ninyo maliliit kaya nga ‘yung iba nadi-discourage (the houses given were small so others were discouraged) so I thought that I’d make it bigger this time," Duterte said at the groundbreaking of a new housing project for the military and police in Tarlac on Wednesday.
"So maluwang na ‘yan for a family of three, four. ‘Wag lang masyado kayong manganak. Dalawa, tatlo, tama na ‘yan (The houses are spacious for a family of three, four. Don't have too many children. Two or three, that's enough)," he said.
Duterte admitted that he was worried about the troops and their large families whenever they are injured in operations. He noted that when he learned that some soldiers and cops have more than six kids, he would encourage them to find another job so they could take care of their family.
"Control-control kayo (Practice control)," the President told the uniformed personnel about planning their families.
"You know space your children by three or four would be good. Two, may lalaki ka pati babae na (you have a boy and a girl)," he added.
Shortly after his election in 2016, the President proposed a three-child policy to help curb the country's ballooning population. He later clarified that his proposal was a suggestion, not an imposition, to promote family planning in the country.
