The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Tuesday said close to 3,000 people from four regions in Northern Luzon were evacuated due to typhoon "Rosita" (international name Yutu).

Undersecretary Ricardo B. Jalad, NDRRMC executive director and Office of Civil Defense (OCD) administrator, said a total of 2,928 families or 10,122 persons from Regions 1, 2, 3 and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), were preemptively evacuated to ensure their safety from landslides and flooding.
Jalad added that a total of 1,937 passengers, 189 rolling cargoes, 11 vessels and one motorbanca are stranded in ports of Southern Luzon, Western Visayas, Bicol, and Northeastern Luzon in relation to the weather disturbance.
"Rosita" is the18th cyclone to enter the country this year.
Jalad, at the same time, said a total of 520 cities/municipalities in Regions 1, 2, 3, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), 5, CAR and National Capital Region (NCR) suspended classes due to Rosita, of which 364 cities/municipalities have suspended classes on Tuesday..
A total of 24 domestic flights and six international flights were also cancelled due to bad weather.
Jalad said the NDRRMC Operations Center is currently on red alert status to closely monitor the possible effects of Rosita.
Verifying missing person
Meanwhile, NDRRMC Spokesperson Director Edgar Posadas, said the council is verifying a report that a fisherman from Quezon province went missing due to bad weather.
In an interview, Posadas said they have also yet to receive reports of casualties due to Rosita.
"The latest was a reported missing fisherfolk from Quezon which we are still verifying and confirming," Posadas said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said seven provinces remain under tropical cyclone warning Signal No. 3 as Rosita continues to cut across northern Luzon on Tuesday noon.
Rosita is expected to traverse Benguet, La Union and Pangasinan on its way to the West Philippine Sea on Tuesday afternoon.
Rosita has made landfall over Dinapigue, Isabela around 4 a.m. Tuesday and traveled through the provinces of Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya.
Around Tuesday noon, Rosita was already in the vicinity of Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya and continues to move west-southwest at 25 kilometers per hour..
