Nigerian national caught with big shabu load

By Kate Javier A Nigerian national was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Caloocan City Friday night.

(photo courtesy of Caloocan Police) Arrested was Chidu Iwumune, 39, businessman, a Nigerian national, a resident of Angeles City in Pampanga. Iwumune was identified as the big-time supplier of an arrested drug pusher identified as Arnold Dela Cruz, said Sr. Supt. Jemar Modequillo. Dela Cruz was arrested through a search warrant last Thursday. Seized from him were around 100 grams of shabu worth P350,000, firearms and ammunition. Anti-narcotics agents from the Caloocan police led by Sr. Inspector Allan Hernandez conducted the operation against Iwumune near a shopping mall along Sangandaan around 10 p.m. Iwumune handed over a pack of suspected shabu worth P10,000 to PO1 Almario Fabito who acted as poseur-buyer. Upon apprehension, the Nigerian national ran away but the police nabbed him after a 200-meter chase, said case investigator SPO1 Ryan Escorial. In an interview, Iwumune, who has been residing in the country since 2014, denied his involvement in illegal drugs. "I don't have any knowledge why they arrested me. I was supposed to meet my friend in Malate when the policemen just nabbed me," Iwumune told the Manila Bulletin. Charges will be filed against Iwumune who is now detained at the Caloocan police detention cell.
