The motorist assistance team were also directed to coordinate with the Land Transportation Office, Philippine National Police, Local Government Units and other government agencies for any assistance that may be required.
Blue-colored Lakbay Alalay tents were also put up where the travelling public can seek help for maintenance equipment.
According to the agency, Lakbay Alalay is reactivated "everytime there is a long holiday."
The program was first activated in April 2003 in compliance with the directive of then Acting Secretary Florante Soriquez to "install traffic advisory and directional signs along major routes in Northern Philippines"
