Killing erupts again in Caloocan Two days after the former top cop in Caloocan was relieved due to unsolved shooting incidents, another shooting perpetrated by alleged vigilantes transpired in the northern part of the city Wednesday night,, killing a drug suspect. Rhodora Sabanol, 38, jobless, of Barangay 176 in Bagong Silang, was just sitting in front of her house when two men on board a motorcycle killed her. Sabanol, reportedly included in the drug watch list, died on the spot after sustaining a lone gunshot wound in the head, said case investigator PO1 Dondon Soriano. A witness told police that the gunmen were clad in black jackets and wearing bull caps. Sr. Supt. Restituto Arcangel,, the new city police chief, said they are now looking into Sabanol's alleged involvement in illegal drug trade as the possible motive behind the killing. "We don't have leads right now except that the victim is known as drug pusher in the area," the new chief of the city police said. However, the husband of the victim told police that his wife had no known enemy. On Monday, Sr. Supt. Jemar Modequillo was relieved from his post after failing to solve over 50 percent of shootings in the city, mostly in the northern part, during his six-month term. In an interview, Arcangel said he asked for 300 cops from the district’s mobile unit battalion to conduct checkpoints in the area. (Kate Javier) Early morning fire in Juan Luna A fire engulfed a residential area in Tondo, Manila, during the wee hours of Maundy Thursday, ravaging over P50,000 worth of property. The fire sparked around 2:51 a.m. on March 29 in a residential area along Juan Luna corner Moriones Streets, Tondo, Manila, said arson investigator SFO2 Louie Ebio. PO2 Jaimie Espejo III said that the fire of still unknown origin started at the second floor of House No. 740 Moriones St., in Tondo Manila owned by a certain Richard Uy. The fire reportedly spread to two nearby houses sheltering five other families. Elements of San Lazaro Fire Station led by Fire Inspector Gaudencio Magallanes responded to the scene and declared fire out at about 3:51 a.m. No casualties or injured were reported as of this writing.
