CENTCOM ACTION
CAMP LAPULAPU, Cebu City – With the observance of “Undas” and the long weekend ahead, Central Command (Centcom) is also beefing up security operations to ensure peace and order during the entire week. Centcom crafted its operational plan dubbed as "Hapsay Kalag-Kalag." This is in support to the Philippine National Police (PNP) "Oplan Ligtas Undas." An estimated number of 5,000 personnel all over the Visayas were tapped for the said operations, which is in close coordination with the PNP counterparts in Regions 6, 7, and 8. Army personnel are tasked to assist the PNP to augment security personnel in checkpoints and help desks. (Phoebe Jen Indino)
MAYA HILL
PANGLAO ISLAND, Bohol (PNA) – Bohol is known worldwide for its famous Chocolate Hills, tarsiers and elegant white beaches but a unique architecture design dubbed as "Maya Hill Garden" tree-house, located in a mini-forest near the beach of this beautiful island paradise, is emerging as a top favorite for tourists with a big family in tow. Maya Garden Hill tree-house was conceived and designed by retired Navy Rear Admiral Manny de Leon, former chief of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) who opted to settle permanently in Bohol with his pretty Boholana wife, Sonia Clarin. Instead of constructing the usual prototype pension house for budget-conscious tourists, the couple thought of building a two-story tree-house, virtually hugging among the trees in the forested area in Barangay Songkulan in the town of Dauis on Panglao Island about four kilometers west from the capital city of Tagbilaran.
ANTIQUE TRIPS
SIBALOM, Antique, (PNA) – Antiqueños who have gone home for the Undas have started to return to Manila yesterday. Upon inquiry with the Dimple Star, a roll-on-roll-off (RoRo) bus liner, the management said they have increased today their trips in order to accommodate the returning passengers. Regularly, the Dimple Star makes only two trips a day. But yesterday because of the volume of passengers, they have increased their trips to three. RoRo has been a cheaper alternative for passengers because of the lower fare rates.

Fe, this island, the Cebu Provincial Anti-Illegal Fishing Task Force convened to strengthen the operations of the northern cluster of the Coastal Resource Management Council (CRMC). Gov. Gwen Garcia, chair of the said task force, informed the body that the PL-480 patrol boat donated by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources will be turned over to the CRMC-Bantayan cluster as this will help in the close monitoring of fishing activities in the area.(Mars W.
